Coaching is a dynamic process where individuals (or groups) are assisted in determining goals, gaining decision making skills, improving communication and self awareness. Each person decides what to work on and the coach facilitates the learning/growing process. Coaching can address personal development, life or career decisions, leadership, communication or simply building confidence. Center for In-Hand Leadership offers coaching for all these issues and many others.

Church Leadership Coaching
Church leadership is often made up of people who are willing to serve, but have no idea of how to lead effectively. Ministers are taught theology and how to preach, but not how to lead or be administrators. In turn, lay leaders within the church may be lacking administrative, interpersonal or leadership skills. How can they obtain the skills to hold effective meetings, deal with difficult people, and resolve group conflicts? That is where CIHL comes in. We help clergy and church leaders gain effective leadership and administrative skills. Through coaching, seminars, workshops and consulting sessions, church leadership can increase their effectiveness quickly and in practical ways.
Clergy coaching develops emotionally intelligent leadership competencies so that ministers can effectively lead their congregations. It is an ongoing, thinking-partner process that encourages growth in the leader and in the church family.
Coaching is different from counseling or consulting. Coaching does not address personality issues or fix the congregation. More than a mentor, a clergy coach provides support, objectivity, and accountability while maintaining confidentiality with the pastor.
Consultation provides immediate, expert assistance to the church leader dealing with stressful situations. Pastoral and church leadership workshops are offered periodically. Topics commonly addressed include: dealing with difficult people, leading effective and efficient meetings, when to refer members to an outside resource, dealing effectively with superiors, time management and church administration issues.
